apple jacks
crisply sweet
for children
who's footprints 
forever
on Passenger Creek 
are now enshrined
in the hearts of poets
now enmeshed 
in history
now a place
in soul's memory
a transformation
of land
so bludgeoned 
by a civil war
it is the need 
of abused land
