THE MAGIC PENNY by Malvina Reynolds

chorus
Love is something if you give it away
Give it away, give it away
Love is something if you give it away
You end up having more
verse 1)
It's just like the magic penny
Hold on tight, you haven't got any
Give it away, you've got so many
Come rolling in the door
chorus

verse 2)

So let's go dancing till the break of day
And if there's a piper, we'll have to pay
Cause love is something if you give it away
You end up having more.
Malvina Reynolds was the widow of the left-wing labor leader Bud Reynolds. For many years she lived in Berkley, Calivornia, writing so many songs that her firends believed she wrote a song a day - such songs as "Little Boxes" and "God Bless the Grass".
