Storm's Wonderland | Poem

STORM'S WONDERLAND

I like a storm,
I like to watch a cumulus climb the sky
To make an anvil, and then
Pound out his lightning spears
To hurl to Earth.

I marvel as I watch.
Tremendous flashes open up the night.
I see an ocean in the heavens,
Huge waves dashing shoreward,
Rumble their protest across the star-quenched void.

I love this giant.
Sometimes he kicks through houses, tears up trees,
Does much damage with his offspring -
Rain and hail.
But oh, so beautiful to watch.
